Within Temptation — нидерландская рок-группа. Группа была основана в 1996 г. гитаристом Робертом Вестерхольтом и вокалисткой Шарон ден Адель. Музыку Within Temptation определяют как симфоник-метал, и готик-метал, несмотря на то, что в интервью Шарон ден Адель говорила, что они работают в жанре симфоник-рок с разными влияниями, и по её мнению они не готик-группа.

Уже после выхода первого альбома «Enter» 1997 г., группа стала заметной на андеграундной сцене. А в 2001 г. Within Temptation cтали известны широкой аудитории с cинглом «Ice Queen» с альбома «Mother Earth», который достиг 2 строчки в нидерландских чартах. C тех пор группа выигрывала премию Conamus 4 года подряд. Следующие альбомы «The Silent Force» 2004 г. и «The Heart of Everything» 2007 г. дебютировали на первых строчках в чартах Нидерландов. В 2008 вышел концертный DVD/CD «Black Symphony», записанный с Metropole Orchestra, а 30 октября 2009 г. — акустический альбом «An Acoustic Night at the Theatre», содержащий записи, сделанные во время театрального тура группы.

Пятый альбом группы под названием The Unforgiving был издан 25 марта 2011 года. Тур в поддержку нового альбома был перенесен с весны 2011 года на осень в связи с беременностью Шарон.
