Игра примечательна нелинейным геймплеем, разворачивающимся на открытой территории. Вас ждут ожесточенные схватки с применением оружия ближнего боя, а также стрельба с дальней дистанции. Шумные города и отдаленные населенные пункты — ваши бесценные помощники в вопросах тактического планирования и перемещений. Обновленная камера дает возможность уничтожать бронированные автомобили и танки всего одним метким выстрелом в бензобак. Камера X-Ray детальным образом покажет, как от выпущенной вами пули разрушаются мышцы и кровеносная система. Кроме того, Sniper Elite 3 включает в себя режим кооперативного прохождения и мультиплеер.

Ключевые особенности игры:

Кооперативный режим, позволяющий двум игрокам попробовать объединить свои усилия для прохождения сюжетной кампании или режима Over Watch. Также доступен и новейший зудобробительный режим Survival Mission, в котором вам предстоит прорваться через испытания, подготовленные Немецким Африканским Корпусом.
Многопользовательский режим, представленный пятью вариантами: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Distance King, Team Distance King, No Cross. Последний практически полностью копирует Team Deathmatch, но с той лишь разницей, что команды разделены и ближний бой маловероятен.
Полностью переработанный искусственный интеллект: неприятели стали гораздо более смышлеными в тактическом плане, так что каждое ваше необдуманное действие теперь может выйти боком.
Система X-Ray Kill-Cam — эдакий рентген, наглядно демонстрирующий нанесенный вами урон. Вы сможете увидеть, как выпущенная пуля разрушит кости, мышечную ткань, заденет внутренние органы и так далее.
Продвинутая боевая система. Вам будет предоставлено подробное руководство, рассказывающее о каждом виде оружия. Так вам будет проще понять, какое из них лучше сгодится для ближнего боя, а какое — для дальнего. Доработанная стелс-система позволит вам избежать многих стычек с врагами: проявив смекалку, вы сможете убить их прежде, чем они смогут вас обнаружить. Присутствуют следующие DLC:
