Endless Space – космическая стратегия в смешанном времени (то есть и пошаговая, и в реальном времени). В основе сюжета противостояние восьми цивилизаций, каждая из которых стремится захватить власть над звездами, вам придется управлять одной из них, и привести нацию к победе. В игре существуют разные способы стать победителем. Например, вы можете победить не вступая в битву – с помощью торговли или дипломатии, а можете накопать много-много артефактов ушедших эпох, или стать доминирующей добывающей фракцией, которая контролирует огромное количество полезных ископаемых. Можно унизить врага, раньше всех открыв какую-либо сверхтехнологию, что позволит победить в научном плане, ну а можно просто построить два-три боевых флота с мощнейшими орудиями и отправиться покорять галактику с лазерами, ракетами, и прочими средствами донесения ваших аргументов до оппонента. Притом каждая дорога действительно работает, пусть и не у всех держав – некоторые предпочитают вести войну, какие-то вообще для нее не приспособлены, а третьи могут делать и то и то, вот только крайне средне...
